Rebecca Zlotowski was born in Paris in 1980. She graduated from the École Normale Supérieure and earned an Agrégation higher degree in literature. She wanted to become a teacher before joining the screenplay department of la Fémis, where she made several decisive encounters: Lodge Kerrigan, Philippe Grandrieux and Jean-Claude Brisseau, and, from among the students, Teddy Lussi-Modeste, with whom she formed working partnerships. In 2010, her first feature Dear Prudence was invited to screen at Critics’ Week at Cannes, was awarded the Louis Delluc Prize for best first film and garnered Léa Seydoux her César nomination for best female newcomer. In 2013 she directed Grand Central, in official selection at the Festival de Cannes in Un Certain Regard. She is currently preparing her third feature co-authored with Robin Campillo, whilst continuing to co-write with other directors.
