Cinéma de la Plage, the Festival de Cannes under the stars

Along with the screenings, encounters and events of the Official Selection held at the Palais des Festivals, the Festival de Cannes reinvents itself at nightfall and transforms the Macé Beach of the Croisette into an open-air cinema.
This cinephile and festive event with open access to the audience and festival-goers invites classics, cult or recent films, guests and many musical surprises, from Tuesday, May 14 to Saturday 25.

CINÉ-KARAOKÉ / OPENING PARTY
New in 2019! A great party to open the Cinéma de la Plage. The biggest cinema hits to sing along—a karaoke on the big screen to put the Croisette on fire! Open to everyone to sing altogether. A fun and relaxed concept for the first time at the Cinéma de la Plage.

LES 400 COUPS (THE 400 BLOWS)

60 years after triumphing at Cannes, François Truffaut’s New Wave masterpiece is back on the Croisette. An accurate and moving look at the end of childhood with Jean-Pierre Léaud, Palme d'or d’honneur 2016 in his first role.

LA CITÉ DE LA PEUR (FEAR CITY : A FAMILY-STYLE COMEDY)

EASY RIDER

Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda hit the road on their big motorcycles with the rock anthem Born to Be Wild. 50th anniversary of the legendary road movie of protest hippie youth that marks the beginning of the New Hollywood era. Prix du premier film at Cannes in 1969.

BOYZ’N THE HOOD

A tribute to director John Singleton who recently passed away. Selected at Un Certain Regard in 1991 and twice-nominated to the Academy Awards, this gangsta movie follows the daily life of three friends from a Los Angeles ghetto, punctuated by an unforgettable soundtrack.

THE PATRIOTS

A second big party to close the Cinéma de la Plage. A giant karaoke on a big screen to sing along fiercely on the Croisette. Open to everyone to celebrate the 72nd Festival de Cannes one last time.
